AHS AVID
AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination and is a program for students who are typically underrepresented in a college setting, and are first-generation college students. The purpose of AVID is to prepare students for college, and provide students with the skills to become life-long learners. The AVID elective class provides support to students who are motivated to attend college. Writing, inquiry, collaboration, reading, and organization, along with tutorials and study skills, are the core strategies of the AVID program.
