For those of you that have not done cross country before let me explain how it works as a sport. There are no tryouts and we do not cut anyone. As long as you show up to practice and run with us on a regular schedule you will compete as a member of our team.
Everyone runs the same course at a meet. As long as the coaches feel that you can complete the course (usually around 3 miles) you will run. The time it takes you to finish the race will determine your place on our team as far as varsity etc., But the fastest person and the slowest person all do the same run.
You will need a sports physical to compete. If you have never had one before, you need one to start the summer pre-season. If you had one last year, you need a new one by the beginning of school (July 31st). These will be uploaded to DragonFly…see the school website for info.
During the school year we workout from 3:50 until around 5:00 to 5:30 at the latest. Good running shoes and running shorts and a top are all you really need as equipment.

These are the dates that are set, beyond these dates we will set places and times as we go. This pre-season work really sets the stage for the season. If you are planning on having a good Cross Country season you need to do the work over the summer, either with us or on your own.
