Survival Class, RAIDER, Orienteering, and Physical Fitness Teams

Survival Class, Course Number 09907 is the primary group used to feed the RAIDER, PT and Orienteering Teams in the Bulldog Battalion. Many of the tasks or activities used in competition are learned in the Survival Class. Subjects like First Aid, Land Navigation, Healthy Life Style, and Physical Training are a few of the events the students will learn or be exposed too.  The Survival is scheduled to also conduct two survival camping trips during the upcoming school year. One Rope Bridge, Land Navigation, Shelter/Fire Building Techniques and First Aid are a few of the activities completed during the trip. 

Survival Class Activities

The Survival Class Cadets recently returned from a camping trip. During the camping trip the Cadets participated in a Land Navigation course, movement during limited visibility, building of shelters, setting snares, build types of fire specific to a survival need, ways to light these fires, team building with the one rope bridge. raider.jpgFirst and Foremost; To be a member of the Raider Platoon you must maintain a 2.0 GPA. To earn your Beret & Jump Boots, you must complete the following events in a five day period.  Males- 30 Push-ups in one min, 50 Sit ups in one min, 7 Over-hand pull-ups, One mile run under 6:45, One lap around the track with 30lbs Ruck under 1:45 and with Drill Rifle under in 1:25. Females- 15 Push-ups in one min, 50 Sit ups in one min, 7 Pull ups or flex arm hang for 60 sec, One mile run under 7:45, One lap around the track with 30lbs Ruck under 2:10 and with Drill Rifle only in under 1:45. To earn the “Fully Qualified” RAIDER title; the cadet must also must also complete/pass the Army APFT, 12 Mile Foot March, and write a 1000 word essay on a Special Ops Unit of their choice.  Complete these events to earn the Tab, Recondo Badge and Black Cord. Radier certification will be conducted by 1SG Montoya or LTC Gomez or the Raider Commander.
